Level 1 Scroll Tutorials

Level 1 Scrolls are designs that utilize basic concepts in geometry and can be accomplished with just a ruler and a pencil. There’s no ‘free-hand” drawing required at this level. These tutorials are often used to help introduce people into the idea of the scribal arts for little or no cost. There’s very little in the way of tools (just a ruler and pencil) to lay it out and painting can be handled easily as all of the shapes within these designs are basic geometric patterns.
These designs typically reflect early period scribal work often found in the 7th - 9th centuries.
